CleanSpace and SmartSump help to resolve water in London, KY
Challenge
A homeowner in London, Kentucky called The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky regarding some problems that they were having with some water getting into the crawl space that had begun to cause problems with mold. The crawl space originally had some black plastic on the floor as a vapor barrier. The crawl space did not have a sump pump installed and there were some places in the crawl space that had water that was puddling on the floor.
Solution
They met with a Certified Inspector who recommended that a SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System, a CleanSpace Liner, CleanSpace Vent Covers, SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation, SaniDry Sedona, and an EverLast Crawl Space Access door are installed to resolve the problems that the homeowner was having in the crawl space.
The SmartSump is made especially for crawl spaces. The SmartSump includes the WaterWatch Alarm and an Airtight Lid with an Airtight floor drain.
The CleanSpace Liner is a plastic liner, similar to a pool liner, that is permanently attached to the walls and floor of the crawl space. This provides a vapor-proof barrier between the ground and the home.
CleanSpace Vent Covers are used to cover the existing vents to provide an airtight seal and keeps debris from entering the crawl space.
SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation is infused with graphite particles to reflect heat. This also helps to keep the floors in the living space warmer in the winter.
The SaniDry Sedona is used to keep the humidity low. This is important because too much humidity encourages mold growth and musty odors. The special filters on the SaniDry also filter mold spores, dust mite droppings, and other particles out of the air.
With these new products installed in the crawl space, the homeowner will notice a difference in the heating and cooling costs and the floors in the living space will be warmer in the winter.
