The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky Aids In Flood Relief In Eastern Kentucky
My coworkers and I were heartbroken to hear about the devastating damage flooding caused in Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Letcher, Owsley, and Pike counties. I was inspired by our network friends, Junk Luggers of Kentucky, and their activism in the community. They worked together with Christ the King School to ship 2 truckloads of donations to the affected areas.
I had an event I needed to attend in Lexington and thought that would be the perfect opportunity to put together a small product drive. I reached out to the office staff and the management team to collect cleaning supplies, toiletries, and none perishables. Our collection was small but mighty. Together we donated gloves, hand soap, shampoo, bars of soap, toothpaste, cans of beans, soup, baby wipes, and more. I dropped them off at the Appalachian Regional Healthcare building. They’re accepting donations Monday through Friday, 8 AM-8 PM.
How You Can Get Involved
If you’d like to find more ways you can help, WKYT has many helpful sources. That’s how I found our donation drop-off. Additionally, you can donate to the Team Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief Fund. We are here for you, Kentucky! We hope our load was able to take off some of the burdens you face in this natural disaster.
