Photo Album: CleanSpace Encapsulation System used to resolve musty crawl space in Georgetown, KY

A Georgetown, Kentucky homeowner noticed a musty smell in the crawl space and called The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky for a solution to this problem.  The homeowner met with a Certified Inspector, Brice, who recommended that a CleanSpace Encapsulation System with CleanSpace Drainage Matting, CleanSpace Vent Covers, and an EverLast Door.  He also recommended that SilverGlo Crawl Space Insulation and RimTight Rim Joist Insulation and a SaniDry Sedona are also installed.   The CleanSpace Liner is a bright, white plastic liner, similar to a pool liner that is installed on the walls and floor of the crawl space to provide a vapor-proof barrier between the ground and the home.  Underneath the CleanSpace Liner, we installed CleanSpace Drainage Matting.  CleanSpace Drainage Matting has dimples throughout the matting to provide a channel for water to flow into the drainage system.  CleanSpace Vent Covers help to create an airtight seal of the crawl space and keep cold air in the winter and hot humid air in the summer from entering the crawl space.  The EverLast door is a crawl space access door making it easier to get into the crawl space and keeps water and debris from getting into the crawl space. The SilverGlo Insulation is rigid foam insulation that is infused with graphite to reflect heat back into the crawl space.  The RimTight Rim Joist Insulation is used to insulate and seal the rim joist.  The Rim Joist is the board just above the foundation and below the flooring system.  Having the proper insulation will help with heating and cooling costs.   We also installed a SaniDry Sedona.  The SaniDry filters and dries the air and keeps the humidity low.  Too much humidity in the crawl space can cause the musty odor the homeowner was noticing.  Having the crawl space encapsulated to keep the moisture from seeping from the ground into the crawlspace and the SaniDry working to keep the humidity from condensation low the homeowner will be able to experience not only a more comfortable home but a healthier home also.
