Photo Album: PowerBraces and a FlexiSpan to resolve a bowing wall in Ft. Mitchell, KY
A homeowner in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky has a basement with a poured foundation and was having problems with a bowing wall in the basement. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky and met with Michael, a Certified Inspector, who recommended that the PowerBrace System is installed to resolve the problem with the bowing wall. Upon inspection, he also noted a crack in the wall and recommended that the FlexiSpan Crack Repair System is installed to repair the crack.
The PowerBrace is a steel I-beam that is attached to the floor and the floor joists of a wall that is bowing, tipping or cracking. The PowerBrace is secured tightly against the wall to stabilize the wall and protect it from further movement. There is an adjustable bracket on the PowerBrace that can be tightened over time to potentially reverse the wall failure.
The FlexiSpan Crack Repair System is used to repair a crack in a poured foundation wall. The FlexiSpan system is a permanent repair for a crack in a basement wall. The FlexiSpan starts with a bead of sealant on the crack. This will seal the crack. Next, a FlexiSpan Foam Drain Strip is placed over the bead of sealant. The reason for this is as the house continues to settle the crack could possibly reopen a little bit and water could seep past the seal. The Foam Drain Strip will wick away any water that seeps through the sealant and will drain it down into drainage well or WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System that has been installed under the FlexiSpan Repair. The next step in this repair is the Sealant Overlay. This flexible sealant will be placed overlapping the repair on each side. This will completely and permanently seal the repair.
