A homeowner in Lexington, Kentucky, called The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky regarding concerns of moisture and mold in the crawl space of their home. The house was built in the 1940s, there was plastic down as a vapor barrier, but there was no sump pump installed in the crawl space. After meeting with one of our Certified Inspectors, the homeowner decided to have a CleanSpace Encapsulation System installed. For this project, we installed a CleanSpace Liner, CleanSpace Drainage Matting, a SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System, SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation, and a SaniDry Sedona.

This crawl space had a moisture barrier that has deteriorated over time and could be the source of the problems in the crawl space.

The CleanSpace Liner is a thick plastic liner that is similar to a pool liner. This provides a moisture-proof barrier between the ground and the home.

Now with the CleanSpace Liner installed, the crawl space will be much easier to access.

SilverGlo Crawl Space Wall Insulation.

SilverGlo is rigid insulation that is infused with graphite particles to reflect heat into the crawl space. This makes the floors warmer in the home.

SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System.

The SmartSump pumps water out of the crawl space to protect it from flooding. The SaniDry Sedona removes the excess moisture from the air to control the humidity. Too much humidity in the crawl space encourages mold growth and musty odors.
