Corner of House Settling Unevenly
You can see someone poured some concrete in the gaps between the foundation and the brick to try and conceal the settling. This "solution" is of course ineffective.
Cracking Brick on Outside of Home
The first part of your house to crack when settling occurs is most likely your outside brick. This is because the mortar between the brick is often times the weakest part of a structure.
Properly Attached Piers
We like to put our piers at a slight angle to ensure they are attached to the footers properly. The bracket of the piers are an "L" shape, and we want to make sure the contact surface area is even with the footers of the home.
Lifting the Footers
The red part of the pier is used to lift the footer if needed be. It is then removed after the lifting process, leaving the pier concealed in the ground after we backfill. It's also important to note that this footer is pretty shallow in the ground, which can also cause foundation to settle.
Crawl Space Jack
Our SmartJack system allows us to stabilize the floors on the first level of the home. SmartJacks and piers help one another out in this case.
