Side of Settling Home
This picture was taken from our inspector upon initial visit. We planned to install 4 piers along this side of the brick wall, and then 2 piers from inside the porched area.
Installed Piers
When we dig for our piers, we may or may not have the knowledge of how far down we have to dig to expose the footers. In this case, it was about four feet. Shallow footers are not the strongest against settlement issues.
Cracked Dry Wall
You can see someone tried to seal the cracks near the corners of the window. Often times, the cracks will reveal themselves again and again.
Backfilled Piers
Once we install our piers, we then backfill around them with the dirt we originally dug up. We did a pretty good job of compacting the soil here.
Cracked Brick
Mortar between outside bricks are often the first signs of foundation settlement.
