Photo Album: Crawl Space Repair Company in East Bernstadt, Kentucky
Crawl spaces with open vents are very troublesome. In the humid days of summer, the vents bring in moisture soaked air. In the colder days of winter, the vents bring in freezing air. Though, the only safe way to be able to close off these vents is through an encapsulation, (otherwise moisture could be a major issue). For this home in East Bernstadt, KY, we started the encapsulation by installing our CleanSpace vapor barrier combined with our drainage matting all across the floor, (the drainage matting goes under the vapor barrier to make it stronger). We then installed our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, which will make sure that the controlled air in the crawl space stays completely dry. We then installed our SilverGlo insulation panels all along the crawl space wall. With the newly installed panels handling all the insulation, we were able to then take out all the moldy fiberglass hanging from the ceiling. Lastly, we topped off the treatment process by sealing all the vents around the crawl space. The result of this crawl space repair is a much healthier environment that will surely outlive its older version by a far margin.
Open Vents Bring in Freezing Winter Air
In order to be able to safely seal your crawl space vents in the Winter, you should first get it encapsulated to eliminate all moisture. Humid air is much harder to heat and cool than dry air.
SilverGlo Insulation Panels
These insulation panels are great at retaining heat in a crawl space in the winter. They also aren't affected by moisture, unlike fiberglass that gets heavy and loses insulation value.
Vapor Barrier and Drainage Matting
Under this white moisture barriers is our dimpled drainage matting that will help make the vapor barrier comfier to crawl on. It will also prevent the vapor barrier from ripping when crawling on.
Wrapped Piers
Believe it or not, concrete piers are actually pretty good at transferring moisture, so we make sure to wrap them up too.
Moldy Fiberglass
This fiberglass and wooden beam had turned black and grimy from all the moisture in the crawl space. This is why some people may experience sagging/cold floors above their crawl space.
