This large, dirt floored crawl space was wet when the homeowners called us out for a free inspection. Wet crawl spaces are a problem because they can breed mold, cause wood rot, and cause energy loss. We repaired this crawl space by encapsulating it. We first waterproofed it with a sump pump and our drainage matting. Our drainage matting is dimpled, and was installed all across the floor of the crawl space. The dimpled bubbles allow water to move to the sump pump underneath the vapor barrier we installed over the matting.
