Water leaking into a 70-year-old basement through cracks in the walls is resolved in Falmouth, KY.
Challenge
A 70-year-old home in Falmouth, Kentucky had a basement with block walls and a sump pump had not been installed. The homeowner was noticing water seeping into the basement through cracks in the walls and water was seeping in onto the floor. They called The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky and met with a certified inspector to find a solution to this problem.
Solution
Walt, a Certified Inspector for The Basement Doctor, recommended that a BrightWall Paneling System, WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, and a SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System is installed to resolve the water problems in this basement.
BrightWall Paneling System is 4x8 sheets of plastic paneling that is used to cover the basement walls. This plastic paneling not only makes the basement look great, but it will also drain any wall leaks down into the WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System.
WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a sub-floor piping system that is installed along the foundation walls and is used to intercept water that seeps into the basement. The water that is collected by the WaterGuard piping is drained into a sump pump system and will be removed from the basement.
The SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System is a 1/3 hp cast-iron Zoeller pump. It includes the pump, liner, Airtight Lid with an Airtight Floor Drain, CleanPump Stand, and the WaterWatch Alarm. The pump is installed into a sturdy liner that will not cave in or crack. The Airtight Lid keeps water from evaporating back into the basement, keeps out odors and insects, and quiets the pump. The Airtight Floor Drain will allow water from a plumbing leak to drain into the liner, but it will not let the water to back up into the basement. There are also knockouts in the lid that can be used to drain the dehumidifier if one is installed. The WaterWatch Alarm will sound if the water reaches the point that the pump should have turned on. It will also sound during a power failure. This will alert the homeowner to a problem with the system that needs to be resolved.
The SaniDry Sedona is used to dry and filter the air. Too much humidity encourages mold growth and musty odors. The filters on the SaniDry also remove dust mites, mold spores and other particulates from the air. This makes the air in your home healthier and more comfortable.
These systems working together will give the homeowner a dry, healthier basement that can be used for storage or extra living space.
