Moisture and Mold Problems Resolved in Southgate, KY
Challenge
A 100-year-old home in Southgate, Kentucky, was leaking some water into the basement causing some moisture and mold problems in a finished basement. The homeowner called The Basement Doctor to find a solution to this problem. The homeowner scheduled a free estimate with Michael, a Certified Inspector. Michael recommended that the homeowner have a WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, a SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System with an UltraSump Battery Back-up, and EverLast Wall Restoration Panels installed to waterproof this basement and repair the walls that the moisture had damaged.
Solution
The WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a sub-floor piping system that is installed along the foundation walls. The WaterGuard is used to collect water that seeps into the basement. This water is drained into a sump pump system, such as the SuperSump, and then removed from the basement.
The SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System is a 1/3 hp cast iron pump. This system includes a CleanPump Stand, WaterWatch Alarm, SuperLiner, and an Airtight Lid with an Airtight Floor Drain. The CleanPump Stand lifts the pump out of the sediment that settles to the bottom of the liner. The Airtight Lid fits snug on the SuperLiner and will keep the water from evaporating back into the basement. It also keeps objects from falling into the liner and keeps out odors and insects. The Airtight Floor drain will allow water from a plumbing leak to drain into the lid but will not let the water to back up into the basement. The WaterWatch Alarm will sound if there is a problem with the pump, such as a pump or power failure. This alerts the homeowner to a problem within the system that will need to be resolved before damage can occur.
The UltraSump Battery Back-up System will automatically run if there is a power or pump failure. This system runs on battery power and comes with its battery and charging station. The UltraSump gives the homeowner peace of mind that there is always a pump available when needed.
The EverLast Wall Panel is installed at the bottom of a finished basement wall and is an excellent alternative to regular drywall. The Everlast panels are made of an inorganic material and will not be damaged by moisture. The EverLast Panel is covered with a textured vinyl that is washable and durable. These panels look great and work well with our other waterproofing products.
