Lexington Basement Fitted with PowerBraces, WaterGuard, SuperSump, and Helical Anchors
Challenge
This basement in Lexington was having issues with water infiltration and structural instability. The basement was regularly pooling with water, which had already damaged some of the walls and fixtures. The walls of the basement were also bowing, cracking, and becoming unstable. We needed to find a solution to both problems.
Solution
In order to resolve the issues with water infiltration in the basement, we installed a WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement and its fixtures. This below-the-floor drainage system is designed to capture pooling water without clogging from the soils beneath the basement floor. This drainage system will take all of the collected water to the SuperSump - a powerful pumping system that can pump thousands of gallons of water back outside every hour. This will prevent water from pooling and damaging the basement fixtures.
We also installed a set of PowerBraces and Helical Wall Anchors in this basement. The PowerBraces are designed to permanently stabilize bowing basement walls, and can sometimes be used to successfully straighten the walls if the conditions are right. We also installed 3 helical wall anchors, which provide a point of tension between the basement walls and the outside soils. This will pull back on the wall, creating stability.
These two solutions provided the homeowners with a dry and stable basement.
