Unstable Soil
Unfortunately, the weak soil was also messing up their sidewalk and driveway. Unstable soil is a big problem! We plan to lift the outside concrete with our PolyLevel foam jacking at a later date. These tree roots may or may not have been soaking up all the moisture away from the soil, causing the soil to shrink and the foundation to fall.
Front of House Sinking
The front of the house is where we installed our piers, (this picture was taken before). See just how dry the front lawn is? Now imagine how dry the soil is underground.
Exposed Footer
In order to install our piers, we need to expose the footers, however deep they may be.
Attached Pier
Our piers are drilled into load bearing soils, and then attached to the footers of the home. This process effectively transfers the heavy weight of the home onto soil that is capable of counteracting the heavy weight of the home.
Cracking Window Frame
If you look closely to the right of this picture under the window, you can see a large crack under the window frame. A definite sign of settlement.
