This rural home was sitting alongside the slope of a hill, which had caused the foundation to shift over time. The homeowner finally had enough one day and proceeded to give us a call so we could give them an inspection. Upon the free inspection, we told the homeowner it would be wise to install some piers under the garage and the left side of the home, to prevent any further structural damage. They agreed, and we got to the underpinning sometime within the next week. The result of the helical pier underpinning was a stabilized structure, and a happy homeowner.
Hillside Home with Settlement Issues
This steep hill was making it hard for the home to keep still.
Problem Area Corner
This corner shows the "stair-step" cracking inside the home.
Pier Underpinning
These piers were installed down into the ground, where they are able to reach stable, load-bearing soil. This process transfers the weight of the home to stable ground.
Problem Side Corner
This other area on the garage side was cause for concern as well.
Sinking Garage
If we didn't install piers on this side, this whole corner could fall off onto the hillside to the right side of the picture.
