Sandy L called The Basement Doctor of Central Kentucky to see what options we offer to repair a wall that was bowing inward along the back side of the basement. Our specialist, Brian B, went out to inspect the problem and recommended that Sandy have our PowerBrace foundation wall repair system installed. The PowerBraces, which brace the floor from top to bottom, will stop any further inward bowing of the wall for the life of the structure. In addition, PowerBraces also have the potential to help straighten out the wall over time.
A homeowner in Berea, Kentucky was having problems with water, moisture, and mold starting on one wall of the crawl space. The crawlspace was 6ft tall with a gravel floor. We installed a CleanSpace Wall System, a SmartSump Crawl Space Drainage System, and a SaniDry Sedona to keep the humidity low.
A Richmond, Kentucky homeowner had just purchased the property and noticed that water was seeping into the basement near the floor. The home was built in the 1940s, has a block foundation, and did not have a sump pump system installed. the homeowner met with Damon, a Certified Inspector, who recommended that WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System, a TrenchDrain, and a SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System is installed to resolve this problem.
The WaterGuard Basement Waterproofing System is a piping system installed into the floor around the foundation walls. This piping system will intercept the water that is seeping into the basement and drain it into the sump pump system to be pumped out of the basement. The TrenchDrain is a piping system with a grated top. The grated drain sits flush with the floor and allows water to drain in from the top. These are commonly seen along doorways and basement hatches.
The SuperSump Premier Sump Pump System is a high-end Zoeller pump. It comes with the WaterWatch Alarm, SuperLiner and Airtight Lid. The WaterWatch Alarm will sound if there is a pump or power failure. This will alert the homeowner to a problem with the system that needs to be resolved. The SuperLiner is a rugged liner that will not cave in or crack. The Airtight Lid is strong enough that you can even stand on it. The Airtight Lid keeps water from evaporating back into the basement, keeps objects from falling into the liner and quiets the pump.
These systems working together will give the homeowner a dry basement that can be used for storage without worries of water intrusion.
The owners of this home were planning on retiring in the next 10 years and knew that they wouldn't need the house anymore, since they only lived their to be close to their work. Knowing this, they knew that having a leaky basement would ruin their value on their home. They figured waterproofing now would be a smart move since it would ultimately pay for itself to be done, increasing their homes value significantly. For the ten years that they have left or so before retirement, they can now also have a waterproofed, healthy basement. We also offered them financing options, which helped them make the decision. We waterproofed the full basement and added CleanSpace walls and a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, making the basement dry as bones.
