This homeowner was concerned that a large crack in their basement wall would cause problems once they finished the space with drywall. Their concern was valid, as cracks not only expand over time but also create a direct path for water intrusion.
To solve the issue, our team sealed the crack with high-grade polyurethane. This system is designed to stop water permanently. In the rare case that any moisture makes it through, a secondary drainage channel behind the wall directs it into the home’s main drainage system—whether that’s an existing WaterGuard system or a sump basin installed below the floor.
The repair left the wall with a clean, finished appearance and a guarantee against future leaks. Now the homeowner can move forward with finishing their basement without worrying about water damage.
This home was one hundred and three years old and had a poured foundation. We stabilized the back left side of this home with two helical piers. We then lifted the foundation using hydraulics, allowing us to close some of the cracked gaps seen in the foundation walls. We also installed a SaniDry Sedona in the basement to help dry it out.
Foundation settlement is no joke and the owner of the home for this project would tell you that first hand. When they first bought the home a year ago, their seemed to be no problems with foundation settlement. The basement was finished and there were seemingly no cracks or signs of water intrusion. That all changed though when they realized that their door was stickier than ever before some months after they moved in. They then got curious and looked under the carpets in their basement and decided to take a closer look at their drywall. When they looked the saw they had been duped. The previous owner of the home had done a good job at concealing the signs of settling by sealing the cracks in the basement, despite knowing the house was in fact settling.
The new owners felt betrayed, and just wanted this all to be over with so they could enjoy their new home. They called us to come out and to devise a plan. We suggested we install 8 piers around the foundational footers of the home on the left side, where all the settling was occuring. We got to excavating and installed the piers rather quickly, and after we stabilized the home with the piers, we then raised the foundation just a tiny bit, so the doors would be less sticky. The homeowners noticed the improvement immediately once they opened their door very smoothly. They owners were happy with us, and told us they would call us again if they ever need foundation work done again. We told them we hope they never do.
Recently in Bagdad, KY, we were called to tackle a challenge that many homeowners dread: sinking concrete slabs in a driveway and connecting sidewalk. The homeowner was quite anxious that the sagging steps were not only an eyesore but posed a safety hazard and risked eventual cracking. Understandably, they wanted a solution that was fast, effective, and would stand the test of time. On contacting The Basement Doctor, the homeowner was immediately met with empathy and professionalism. Our Customer Care team efficiently set an appointment that accommodated the homeowner's schedule, and soon after, a System Design Specialist was on site. Our specialist conducted a thorough inspection of the slaffy pavement and diagnosed that the underlying issue was a void created by soil settling underneath. The proposed solution: PolyLevel. PolyLevel is an advanced polyurethane injection foam that we specialize in. Unlike mudjacking, PolyLevel is less invasive, cures faster, and is incredibly durable, making it an excellent choice for leveling sinking concrete. The day of repair saw our skilled foreman and installers promptly arrive at the property. With precision, they injected PolyLevel beneath the slabs, lifting them back into the proper position and filling the voids to prevent future sinking. As we cleaned up, the difference was visibly astounding. The once uneven driveway and sidewalk were now smoothly aligned, aesthetically pleasing, and, most importantly, safe for foot traffic. The homeowner was overjoyed with the transformation and the hassle-free experience provided by The Basement Doctor team. Through this repair, we not only restored the functionality and appearance of their concrete but also preserved the property's value—eerily demonstrating our commitment to delivering a remarkable customer experience paired with reliable and lasting solutions.
A homeowner on Midland Trail in Shelbyville, Kentucky reached out to us after noticing water entering their basement during heavy rains. They wanted a reliable solution that would keep the space dry and protect their home’s structure.
Our team installed a partial interior waterproofing system using WaterGuard along the problem walls to capture water before it could damage the basement. We connected it to a TripleSafe sump pump system for dependable removal and added a discharge line with IceGuard outlets to ensure water is safely directed away from the foundation.
With the system in place, the homeowner now has a dry, protected basement and peace of mind knowing their home is safeguarded against future water intrusion.
This home in Waddy, KY had water seeping in along the base of its poured concrete foundation walls. To keep the basement dry year-round, our team installed a full interior waterproofing system with WaterGuard perimeter drains and a TripleSafe sump pump. We began by cutting a narrow trench around the perimeter of the basement floor and setting the WaterGuard drainage channels on top of the footing—keeping them above the mud zone to prevent clogging. Small weep holes were drilled along the wall base to allow any trapped water to drain into the system.
Before sealing everything with new concrete, we applied a specialized moisture-transfer tape over the top of the WaterGuard to prevent water vapor from wicking through to the finished surface. All collected water is now directed into the TripleSafe sump system, which includes three pumps in one liner for reliable performance even during heavy rains or power outages. This Waddy, KY basement is now fully protected from water intrusion and ready to stay dry for years to come.
